Last days of summer
We have been enjoying the last days of summer. Here are a couple pictures. Some were taken before Asher's last haircut (man did he need it) and some were taken after. Enjoy! I hope you are getting some time to enjoy the nice weather as well :)

Reunion, Birthday, Etc
We have had a busy last couple weeks and I am just getting around to posting again. We had our first Family Reunion for my dad's side of the family. It was a lot of fun! It was up by Chicago and the weather was a little rough, but we had a pavilion and the kids didn't mind playing in the rain. It was so good to see everyone. Here is a picture of Asher and I and two of his cousins (Ethan and Chloe).

When we got back my birthday was the next weekend. Ty surprised me by making me breakfast and then taking me horse back riding. He even arranged for his parents to watch Asher. I haven't been riding in over 7 years and it was awesome. The scenery was amazing, and Misty (my horse) was good to me :) Great birthday.

Here is a picture from a random moment this past weekend. Ty and I were in the living room and he went to play in the foyer. We were watching him (even though he didn't know it). He found Ty's hat and sat in front of the hall tree looking at himself in the bottom mirror. Then he proceeded to try and put on Ty's hat. It was a precious moment. He did manage to get it on his head once. He is already trying to be like his daddy... watch out :)

California
We just got back from Newport Beach, CA and are thinking of the sand and the water a lot today. I wish TN wasn't such a land locked state. We loved vacationing in CA, seeing family and being so close to the beach. The sand was soft, the waves were crashing and the sun was hot... a great vacation. Asher did OK with the 4+ hr plane ride and the time zone changes. It was the first time that he got to 'swim' in the ocean. But, his favorite parts by far were the sand, the helicopters and of course the dogs! It was special getting to spend time with my Aunt, Uncle and cousins that live in CA. I know Asher enjoyed getting to know his big cousins. I can't put all of the great times into words. Here are a couple pictures. Go to our picture website (link on the left) to see the rest of the pictures that I posted (no worries, I didn't post all 400+ pictures).

Ty buried Asher for fun, but Asher was content to stay there for 30+ min playing with the sand around him...

Milk? No Thank You
I had to share this moment. It really made me laugh.
Here is some background. Asher is totally weaned now but he has not been a fan of whole milk. He will avoid it any way that he can. When I hold it up to his mouth to encourage him to drink he simply pushes it away as if to say, "no thank you". I am hoping that he starts liking it soon... we are not going to stop trying to give it to him. Ty and I are both big milk drinkers so we are finding it hard to sympathize. He LOVES water on the other hand :)
So, this video was from the afternoon. I was giving him some goldfish to eat and I put the milk there in front of him just in case he got the urge. Well, he found another use for his milk. I wonder if he thought he was pulling a fast one on me because it 'looked' like he was drinking... or more likely, he was just having some fun. He did this over and over and so I was able to catch it once on video. He never really got it in his mouth with this method. Enjoy!

4th of July
We had a great 4th of July. My brother, his wife and our niece Chloe came into town to visit. It was so great seeing them and watching Asher and Chloe play together. Chloe is older and wiser - so while she was here I think it sparked Asher's interest to walk a little more. He wanted to do everything that Chloe was doing. It was so fun.
On Saturday morning our neighborhood had a 4th of July parade. Everyone comes out and there is even a fire truck that leads the parade. It is a very neat tradition. Here is a picture of Asher and I before the parade started.
Here are a couple pictures from Asher's time with Chloe. She is ADORABLE!!! She wasn't a big fan of Asher using her to pull up on though :) As Ty found out... it is very hard to get a good picture of two little ones! So, hence the selection below.

Relaxing Weekend
Ty had Friday off... it was so fun to have him home an extra day this weekend. It was extra special because today is our 6th wedding anniversary. We went out on a date yesterday to celebrate (dinner, a movie and ice cream!). It was so much fun to be able to get out by ourselves. It is so great to have parents (free babysitters) that live close :)
Here is a picture of Asher on the swing with Ty pushing. He only gets that kind of smile when Ty pushes him on the swing!
Yesterday we were getting ready to go out on our date and Ty turned on the shower. Asher happened to be in the bathroom and he didn't hesitate to crawl in the shower - FULLY CLOTHED! So, we put him in the tub and gave him a bath since he was wet anyway. Here is a couple pictures from the bath. He loves to drink the water as it comes out of the faucet!!

PS - I finally updated our website with some new pictures. Take a look (link also on the left.)
