Halloween

Asher's first Halloween was a success. Here is a picture of us. I was Minnie Mouse, Ty was a Speed Bump and Asher was two different things. In the picture here he is a pumpkin. I have to get the pictures of him in his other costume downloaded... he also was Pluto (the dog from Disney) which was a great compliment to my costume :) I will try and post a picture with him in that costume too. He was his normal social self. He was not scared by the funny costumes of the people at the door and enjoyed seeing all the new people. We had quite a few trick-or-treaters at our house. We are really liking our neighborhood, there are tons of kids. It is kinda funny one of our old neighbors from when we lived in Franklin 2 years ago in now one of our neighbors in this neighborhood - crazy. She has two little kids that we love, so it was fun to see them again on Halloween.

You Will Be Missed, Grandpa...

Last week my wonderful Grandpa Kelly passed away. Ty, Asher and I just got back from IN for his funeral. My grandfather was a special, special man. He raised 5 daughters, worked sometimes up to 3 jobs at a time, even cooked dinner most nights and still had time for his family. As busy as he was, he never worked on Sunday. God was a priority for him and that was evident in the way he lived his life. Grandpa Kelly had amazing and rare character. He never wanted to hear anything negative said about anyone. He cherished his family and loved his wife intensely. Up until his last days he spoke of how his wife was the most beautiful woman in the world. I have learned a lot from my Grandfather and from the strong marriage that he had with my Grandmother.
Grandpa Kelly got to meet Asher twice. Grandpa was as enthralled with meeting Asher and Asher was of meeting his Great Grandpa. I wish that Asher had gotten a chance to really know his Great Grandpa, but maybe during the time that Asher spend in his arms he was able to feel Grandpa's strength and love in a way that will stick with him.
Grandpa Kelly... we love you and will miss you very very much.

Hiking

Ty and I took Asher on his first hike this weekend. It was a bit chilly but so good to be outside. Ty carried Asher in the Baby Bjorn and for the first 15 min we had Asher facing out. He was laughing and smiling constantly. It took him about 30 min to settle down and just enjoy looking around. We went on a 4 mile hike on a trail by Percy Priest Lake in Nashville. It really was beautiful. I have included a couple pictures that we took along the way. Here is one of Asher and Ty right by the lake. Asher was a little sleepy at this point. After that one I had to get one with him, so here is a picture of Asher and me. He enjoyed being out of the Baby Bjorn for a bit. :)

It is amazing how few pictures of flowers, trees, streams, etc we take when we have him along. I think this is the first time that Ty and I got back from a hike without 50 or so pictures. It was really good though. We truly took the time to enjoy the moment. I know Asher enjoyed it because he loves to be outside. It has turned chilly in Nashville all of the sudden and if we want to do this again any time soon... I need to go shopping to buy Asher some winter clothes! He is up to 18 lbs now. I have to include one more picture. I really like this one...

Sunday Football & First Pair of Jeans

Here are a couple cute moments from the past couple weeks that I wanted to share.

Asher loves football. I am not sure if it is the motion on the screen or the sounds, but he is captivated. A couple weeks ago after the Titans football game on Sunday, Ty and Asher enjoyed a late afternoon nap. I thought it was cute and had to share the photo that I snapped of my handsome boys.

Last week we took Asher to the Independence High School Homecoming football game. Ty's mom, Marilyn, used to be principal of IHS. That night the weather happened to be a bit chilly in the evening... so we dressed Asher up in jeans and a jacket. It was the first time that he was in jeans and I have to say it was pretty fun. He looks like a little man.

Asher is 4 Months Old

I can't believe it... Asher is 4 months old. It is so fun when we can get him to laugh. It is happening more and more. The doctor says it is time to start solid foods soon. We will make sure we get plenty of pictures when we try that!

Visit to Vincennes

Last week Ty traveled to Durham, NC to do some recruiting at Fuqua (Duke's Business School) for Nissan. He was only gone one night but instead of staying home while Ty was away, Asher and I took a road trip. We went to see my Grandma and Grandpa Kelly (Asher's only set of Great Grandparents). It is about a 4 hour drive. Asher traveled pretty well but next time I think it would be best to have Ty along for the trip. We stayed at my Aunt Sherry and Uncle John's house and it was a great little get away. I am so glad that we got the chance to visit with my grandparents for a bit. My parents met us there as well. Asher loved all of the attention!

I loved having some non-holiday time with my grandparents.

Weekend at Home

Ty and I were so happy to have a weekend at home, and so was Asher. So we spent a good amount of time around the house. This was partly because of the crazy gas shortage in Nashville. Over the past 3 or 4 days, 85% of our gas stations have been out of gas. It is pretty scary. I think things will look up this week though. On Sunday I spend 1 hour in line waiting to get gas!

Here are a couple pictures from the weekend. We put Asher in the baby swing in our backyard for the first time. He really liked it. To see more pictures take a look at his 3 month album.

We also enjoyed some down time just relaxing on the couch. It is amazing... Ty already lets him have the remote :)

I have uploaded some more pictures including some of us at Ty's softball game in Asher's 3 month album.
